# Obtain Domain WHOIS Information

Silent Push enables analysis of domain ownership and registration data, which is critical for detecting threats such as phishing or compliance breaches. This query covers both historical and live Whois information.

- **Obtain Historic Domain WHOIS Information**: Retrieve past WHOIS data, including nameserver information, address, and registered emails, to identify ownership patterns.
- **Obtain Live WHOIS Data**: Access current WHOIS data for real-time verification of legitimacy.

## Domain Queries

1. From the left navigation menu, select**Advanced Query Builder > Domain Queries > WHOIS Information**.
2. Specify a domain.
  - (Optional) To view historical data, select **Historic WHOIS.** For more information, see the [WHOIS](/v1/docs/whois-scanner-draft) documentation.
  - (Optional) For live data, choose **WHOIS Live Information** to fetch current details.
3. Click **Search**.

## Save Query

1. Specify query parameters.
2. Click **Save Query**.
3. Provide a **Name** and **Description** for context.
4. Click **Save**. The query appears in [**Private Queries**](https://help.silentpush.com/docs/private-queries).

This monitors ownership changes to detect subdomain creation or IP shifts, enhancing proactive defense.

Publicly available data collected during domain registration or DNS updates, used to analyze domain ownership and history.
