WHOIS data is information about the owners of registered domains that is stored in a publicly available internet record archive, and regulated by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
When you request WHOIS data, you receive the following information about the domain owner:
- Address
- Emails
- Names
- Namesevers
- Organization
- Registrar
- WHOIS Server
- Expiration date
- Country
- City
- State
- Zip Code
A WHOIS Scanner uses the WHOIS protocol to query port 43 of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) that returns information about domain owners in a readable format.
Use WHOIS data from our Web Scanner to:
- Identify domain ownership: Identify who is responsible for a domain name and trace ownership history.
- Troubleshoot network issues: Retrieve information about the domain registrar.
- Identify impersonation attempts: Investigate abuse of registered company names or products.
