# WHOIS

Whois data, regulated by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), is a publicly accessible record of registered domain owners, stored in an internet archive.

Requesting WHOIS data provides:

| Address | Emails | Names |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Nameservers | Organization | Registrar |
| WHOIS Server | Expiration Date | Country |
| City | State | Zip Code |

A WHOIS Search queries Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) port 43 using the WHOIS protocol to retrieve domain owner details in a readable format.

Use WHOIS data from our Web Scanner to:

- **Identify domain ownership**: Determine who owns a domain and trace ownership history.
- **Troubleshoot network issues**: Access the domain registrar details.
- **Identify impersonation attempts**: Investigate a misuse of registered company names or products.

## Our Features

With Silent Push, use the following features to access WHOIS information:

- **WHOIS Search**: Query our WHOIS datasource.
- WHOIS History: View the historical owner records associated with a domain.

Publicly available data collected during domain registration or DNS updates, used to analyze domain ownership and history.

A tool that queries the WHOIS protocol on TCP port 43 to retrieve domain registration details, enabling analysis of ownership, registrar, and other metadata for threat intelligence.

A DNS request (resource record name, rrname) used to retrieve information about a domain, IP, or other network entity for threat analysis.

A feature that tracks historical changes in a domain’s WHOIS records, such as ownership, registrar, or nameserver updates, to identify patterns of malicious behavior or infrastructure reuse.
